Last night Lee Konitz taught the public at SeixalJazz a lesson about beauty, economy and grace.
No more notes than those stricly necessary for the line to shine over the lush, exquisite comping of Florian Weber. Maybe "comping" is not the right word. Florian worked as an instant arranger with a keyboard orchestra making each note of Lee's melody the top of a exquisite harmonic construction.
Interaction within the band and a strong conversational mindset was on from the first note.
