"Cosby once dubbed for Coltrane: the famous quartet had a gig, but Trane had to see the dentist unexpectedly. So Tyner, Garrison and Jones were already playing without Trane. Then Cosby came on stage and started imitating Trane in the mike, to overall acclaim. Suddenly the sound thickened: it was Coltrane who had returned, unpacked his tenor and shared the mike with Cosby. The two wailed together and brought the house down. "
